Local Information

Sayward is a small community of approx 1200 located on Hwy 19,  85 Km north of the City of Campbell River, British Columbia.  The pretty village set alongside a park, campground and pond has a store, post office, recreation centre and RCMP post. The harbour is known as Kelsey Bay and is on the Johnstone Strait which divides the Eastern Shore of  Northern Vancouver Island and the mainland.

The peaceful Salmon Valley runs into the Salmon Estuary framed by magnificent Mount Khusam rising over 1600 metres above JOhnstone Strait.

From the dock at Kelsey Bay you have one of the best views on the east coast of Vancouver Island looking along part of the famed 'inside passage' used by the Alaska cruise ships.

All of the Salmon that choose to travel to the spawning grounds via the inside route have to travel past Kelsey Bay.

Sayward offers excellent Camping and Accommodations
